October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women and is the second leading cause of cancer death in women? About 1 in 8 (12%) women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime.

With this in mind, Naval Hospital Oak Harbor's Radiology Department is accepting walk-in mammograms between the hours of 8am to 3pm Monday through Thursday. Please see the Radiology Receptionist to check availability or call (360) 257-9630.

For more information about breast health and mammography screening, refer to the American Cancer Society's Web site at http://www.cancer.org/ or contact the base Health Promotion Coordinator Michelle Smith at 360-257-9892.
